Bocca Mar Plage |
Bocca Mar is the newest entry on Nice's beach scene, replacing the former La Baieta. Although new to the Promenade des Anglais, this beach-restaurant is an offshot of the popular Bocca rooftop restaurant on the Cours Saleya. The wood & white decor will also be familiar to habitués of the rooftop restaurant.
Centrally-located in front of the five-star Hotel Palais Mediteranée, the beach-restaurant has that "newish" feeling as a result of its recent overhaul.
The menu draws influences from all parts of the Mediterranean from Spain to Lebanon. Prices are reasonable too, at least for now in their first year of operation. A weekday lunch plat du jour is only €17; add another €6 to include an entrée or dessert. Lunch is from noon to 3.30pm; dinner is from 9 to 11pm. Weekends you can eat a meal anytime between noon and 11pm except for when the cook is on break from 6 to 7pm. The bar is open from 9am to midnight.
A lounger and parasol costs €37 for the first row (welcome drink included) and €30 for other rows. A towel costs €5.
The Congres/Promenade bus stop is at the beach entrance. You'll find bus 12. The nearest tram stop is Masséna on line 1.
