La Garoupe
La Garoupe

Antibes has some truly spectacular beaches both public and private. And most of them are sandy! From La Garoupe beach in Cap d'Antibes to the long stretch of pebbles between Antibes and Villeneuve-Loubet, there's a lot to choose from. Let's take a look.

Public Beaches

Plage de la Gravette
This is the widest of all public beaches with plenty of space to spread out, at least outside of the height of the summer season. It's a short stroll from Old Antibes but the entrance can be hard to find! Water cleanliness has been an issue here but there has been a clear improvement in 2019. More.

Plage de Ponteil
This long, sandy beach on a sheltered cove is bracketed by the ramparts of Old Antibes in the east and Cap d'Antibes in the west. After several problematic years, Ponteil beach has shown more consistently clean water in 2019. More.

Plage de la Salis
Similar to Plage de Ponteil but longer, this narrow, sandy beach lies at the foot of Cap d'Antibes. Salis beach boasts the most consistently clean water in Antibes More.

Plage de la Garoupe
The chic beaches and restaurants of La Garoupe  on Cap d'Antibes are mostly private from Easter through September but there is a small public portion on La Garoupe where you can enjoy the fabulous setting for free. Or, enjoy a more elegant experience. More.

Plage des Ondes
On the western side of Cap d'Antibes, this small, sandy beach is on a tranquil cove sheltered from harsh winds on both sides. As it faces west, it's a great sunset beach. More.

Plage du Fort Carré (Fort Carré Beach)
This is a large shingle beach to the east of Antibes that runs to the train station of Biot. There is free parking and beach showers. Water here is consistently clean.

Plage de la route de la Bord du Mer (Coast road beaches)
This is a long, narrow stretch of shingle beach that runs along the road from Antibes to Villeneuve-Loubet. It includes Plage La Siesta (next to the nightclub of the same name), Plage de la Brague and Plage de la Fontonne. There is free parking on the road along the beaches but it can be difficult to find a place in summer. These beaches are exposed to the wind making the waters less calm than other public beaches. There are beach showers and kiosks to buy snacks. As these beaches are far from ports, water is consistently clean. (source: baignades.sante.gouv.fr/)
